Justice As 9/11 Terrorist Pleads Guilty
It was announced today that Khalid Sheikh Mohammed and four co-defendants that have been accused of plotting the 9/11 attacks on New York and Washington will plead guilty, thus finally giving the loved ones of those that died a little peace at last.
Mohammed and his co-accused have been stationed at Guantanamo Bay for some time now but previously maintained their innocence in all hearings. It seems that the individuals in charge of the interrogation at the detention centre finally had a breakthrough as all five pled guilty today in front of the families of 9/11 victims. They were in attendance today to see the cowards finally admit their part in the terrorism that took the lives of 2,973 innocent people 7 years ago.
Although no date has yet been set for the full military tribunal that would effectively serve as Khalid Sheikh Mohammed’s trial, all five will face the death penalty if convicted. And rightly so…
As I have said before, I am neither for or against the death penalty because I can see the arguments for both sides, but in this case these animals do not have the right to live. There is absolutely no justification for what they did on 9/11 and they can only be described as deranged. Why else would they fly planes into the World Trade Center and Pentagon? The argument that they did it for faith would be refuted by the vast majority of Muslims out there today, those that suffered as a result of their faith following the biggest terrorist attack on American soil in history.
I was actually in North Carolina at UNC-Chapel Hill at the time and have never witnessed such fear and heartache. I remember exactly where I was and what I was doing on that faithful morning. I also remember calling my parents and grandparents to reassure them I was completely safe, even arguing with the latter about quittng university and returning home. At the time, I did not fully appreciate 9/11 for what it was. A numbness took over so I cannot even begin to imagine how it felt for those individuals that lost family and friends in the World Trade Center. Neither can I fully appreciate how brave the emergency services were that day, which pays a testament to them and their amazing work. It is about time that th brave and innocent received the justice that they so richly deserve.
