My Family, My World
I must admit, I haven’t even looked for a topic to blog on today because I have something I want to say… Happy Birthday Gran! My Gran was 70 years old yesterday and we had a little family party for her tonight. All four of her children and 5 of her grandchildren were there along with their spouses and partners. It was lovely. I realised just how lucky I was tonight.
I have a wonderful family that has always been there for me through thick and thin. Neither of my parents should be with us by rights. My Mum has had breast cancer twice, at the ages of 32 and 33, but is still here being my rock and my hero. My Dad was hours from going into a diabetic coma when my Mum dragged him to the doctors with blood sugar so high that it didn’t even register on the machine. He had previously refused to go because there was “nothing wrong” with him. Typical male! Had circumstances been different they may not have been here and I am thankful for every single day I have with them.
Although I have an uncle and a cousin I can’t stand, I don’t mind being in their company for a special occassion like this. Everyone has family members that they don’t get on with but then there are some that feel so alone because they have no family or the family they have display no wish to spend time with them or even show that they care in any way. This makes me extremely sad because I know what they are missing out on and feel unbelievably lucky as a result. My family mean the world to me because, in my opinion, family is the only thing that matters in life.
To my family - thank you for everything, I love you. To Gran - happy birthday!
